The example of supersymmetric quantum mechanics is used to discuss the basic concepts of supersymmetry and its characteristic features: anticommuting variables, supercharges, the cancellation of divergences, the vanishing of the vacuum energy, the degeneracy of energy spectra, and the spontaneous breaking of supersymmetry.
